Santiago holds a Bachelor?s degree and a Teacher?s license in Chemistry from the Federal University of Santa Catarina - UFSC. He completed his doctorate in Chemistry at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (1997), postdoctoral studies at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (1999), postdoctoral studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara - UCSB (2004) and postdoctoral studies at the University of Porto, Portugal (2012). He has worked as a Level III Professor at the University of Southern Santa Catarina - UNISUL, from 1998 to 2006 and as R&D Director at Quimsar Química Fina Ltda. He is currently an Associate Professor II of the Department of Chemistry at the Federal University of Santa Catarina - UFSC. He has experience in Chemistry, focusing on Chemistry Teaching, Organic Chemistry, Organic Synthesis and Organic Physical-Chemistry. Acting mainly on the following topics: Chemistry Teaching, Teacher Training, Green Chemistry, Dissemination of Chemistry / Sciences, Enzymatic Catalysis, Intramolecular Catalysis.
